A good carbonless (NCR) form features clear copy transfer, proper part sequencing, and durable paper weights. Key characteristics include sharp legibility on the final copy, distinct color coding for different recipients, and strong binding glue that holds sets together without bleeding.
Core Quality Characteristics
High Legibility: Crisp, dark duplication on the bottom sheet without requiring heavy writing pressure.
Color-Coded Sheets: Standardized pastel sequences (such as white for the original, canary yellow for customer copy, and pink or gold for internal/accounting records) to easily route paperwork.
Balanced Paper Weight: Typically utilizes a heavier top sheet (around 20 lb) for durability during handling and lighter middle/bottom sheets (around 15 lb) to allow effective pressure transfer.

NCR (No Carbon Required) forms are ideal for anything requiring an instant, identical copy — work orders, invoices, receipts, delivery tickets, permits, and citations. Available in 2-part, 3-part, or 4-part sets, each copy is automatically duplicated without carbon paper, so you always have a clean record for your files and your customer.
